The Best Points and Miles Podcasts

If you are looking to maximize points and miles, one of the best ways to learn about this hobby is listening to podcasts. Even if you are experienced in points and miles, podcasts are how I keep up to date on the ever changing landscape.

Points and Miles Podcasts Overview

There are SO many great podcasts out there. Many with very niche topics. I like listening to several podcasts for different perspectives and varying interpretations of aspects of the hobby. The hosts all have different approaches and take very different trips, so I find it very helpful to listen to more than one.

Below I’ll break down my list of favorite podcasts and provide a brief overview of each. One big thing to remember is that credit card offers, award programs and redemptions change all the time. If you are listening to old podcasts, they can be extremely helpful to understand concepts. However, the actual opportunities may not be the most up to date.

I’ve put what I’ve learn from podcasts to good use – booking trips to Mexico, Italy, Aruba, Arizona, California and more for a fraction of the cost!

#1: Wonderland on Points

Wonderland on Points is a perfectly approachable points and miles podcast. Mary Ellen and Jo are down to earth and fun in their presentation of concepts. It is just like having a fun teacher for a subject that’s really interesting!

They offer two episodes per week. The full length episodes focus on digging into a specific topic such as a trip recap, a deep dive into a hotel or airline program or an interview with a guest (I’ve actually been a guest on the show!). The other weekly episode is a mini episode that features updates and news related to points and miles.

  • Who this podcast is for: Beginners, Budget conscious travelers, family travelers
  • Complexity Level: Easy
  • Where to start: Check the episode list on the website for an easy way to reference which episodes to start with. I’d personally recommend episode #s: 179, 106, 25, 50, 82, and 52 for some fundamentals. Then dig into location specific ones that interest you as well!
  • Other Resources: Mary Ellen and Jo put out a twice weekly newsletter in partnership with Yahoo Travel. Check that out here: Y Wonder Newsletter Sign Up

#2: Points Talk Squad

Points Talk Squad is hosted by three inspirational moms, Alex, Pam and Jess. (Pam and Alex are a mother/daughter duo). They offer one podcast episode per week. They have been doing this for a long time and are a wealth of knowledge. I appreciate the balance of traveling on a budget with big families and ultra luxury trips – they have it all!

  • Who this podcast is for: Beginners, luxury travel seekers, family travelers
  • Complexity Level: Easy
  • Where to start: Honestly, I’d go to their website and sign up for one of their webinars as a first step!
  • Other Resources: They have an incredible course that I’d highly recommend if you’re ready to commit to this hobby. Use my affiliate link and code PTSAFF2026 for $200 off!

  • Bonus: As you get more advanced, I’d highly recommend investing in Points Talk Premium, which includes additional episodes with more advanced topics and breaking news.

#3: The Thrifty Traveler Podcast

This podcast is one of my absolute favorites. The content itself is very helpful, but the witty banter between the hosts Kyle and Gunnar is absolutely hilarious. There is one episode per week and they cover points and miles, but also some general travel news. There is an element of pessimism and sarcasm that I personally find entertaining.

  • Who this podcast is for: General travelers looking for flight deals, especially people who fly out of Minneapolis frequently
  • Complexity Level: Easy to Moderate
  • Where to start: This is a relatively newer podcast so you could easily start at the beginning and catch up on all of the episodes!
  • Other Resources: I love their daily newsletter and if you want real time flight deal alerts, subscribing to Thrifty Traveler Premium is an incredible service

#4: The Frequent Miler on the Air

This show is hosted by Greg and Nick, who are some of the most experienced and knowledgeable guys in the points and miles space. They offer multiple episodes a week, including a short “coffee break” episode with a quick deep dive into one topic and a longer episode recapping news, updates and a longer main topic.

The show is approachable and easy to listen to, but some of the topics are in the weeds. It is very analytical and includes more in depth examination of opportunities and the math behind them. It is incredibly thoughtful.

#5: Point Me to First Class

Point Me to First Class is hosted by Devon Gimbel. I must say, her voice was made for podcasting. Listening to her podcast is therapeutic. She specializes in helping physicians maximize spend for travel with points and miles, but the topics in her show are very applicable to all business owners.

  • Who this podcast is for: Particularly great for business owners with high spend
  • Complexity Level: Easy to Moderate
  • Where to start: Free Guide to Get Started
  • Other Resources: Devon also has a course!
